Alex Marquez continues to impress as Alex Rins wins the Aragon GP
Repsol Honda Team rider Alex Marquez continues his impressive run after finished 2nd in two back-to-back races at French GP and recently Aragon GP.
At Aragon GP, Marquez, who replaced his older brother reigning MotoGP world champion Marc who's still underwent successful recovery, started 11th from the grid.
Championship leader Fabio Quartararo who started from pole position was finished in 18th place. The Petronas Yamaha SRT rider lost his championship lead to Joan Mir who finished third in the race. This is also the first time the Suzuki rider leads the world championship since Kenny Roberts Jr. in 2000.
Mir's Suzuki teammate Alex Rins who started from 10th on the grid, overtakes both Yamaha riders Quartararo, Franco Morbidelli and Maverick Vinales.
Alex Marquez also soon followed Rins to overtake both Yamaha riders suffering tyre grip issues during the race.
In the closing stages of the race, Marquez battles the race leader Rins on his process to win his first career premier class podium. In the end, Rins took the chequered flag to capture his third career premier class win (others were last year's GP of The Americas and British GP).
Following the Aragon GP, Mir took the MotoGP world championship lead from Quartararo. Other championship contenders Maverick Vinales and Andrea Dovizioso are still in the title fight after both finished 4th and 7th respectively in the Aragon GP.
The next race, the Teruel GP will take place at the same circuit as Aragon GP at Ciudad Motorland Aragon.
