MotoGP German GP 2021: Marquez undefeated again as Quartararo increased championship lead

The Baby Alien is back. Marc Marquez finally returned to his winning ways by winning his first race since his previous win in 2019 Valencian GP. In the 2021 German GP at Sachsenring circuit, the six-time MotoGP world champion raced still with injured left shoulder, but the Spaniard maintained his consistency throughout the 30-lap race. Seeing the checkered flag, Marquez can't hold his tears as the Repsol Honda rider ended his 581 days of winning draught.

Marquez celebrated his first MotoGP win in nearly 18 months.

Marquez is not only the rider who won after recovering from injuries; in 2010, Valentino Rossi won the Malaysian GP after suffered injuries from the Italian GP crash few months earlier; Marquez' former teammate Dani Pedrosa also did the same in 2015 by winning the Japanese and Malaysian GPs after suffering arm pump in season-opener's Qatar GP.

- Quartararo extends championship lead after Zarco faded
After having penalised due to leather controversy in Catalan GP, Fabio Quartararo continues to manage his championship lead gap to extend heading to the next race at Dutch TT in Assen. In German GP, the Yamaha Factory Racing rider who started the race in the 2nd row alongside Marquez and Ducati Team's Jack Miller overtook fellow Frenchman Johann Zarco (Pramac Racing) who started on pole. Quartararo settled for third until the checkered flag, while nearest contender Zarco starts faded and lost positions to Ducati Team riders Jack Miller and Francesco Bagnaia and the KTM Factory Racing riders Miguel Oliveira and Brad Binder. Quartararo's teammate Maverick Vinales finished 18th after engine change penalised him the back of the grid start. Rossi himself scored two points after finished 14th.
